The Magic of the Red Dress

A red dress inevitably garners a considerable amount of attention. Being that red is irrefutably sexy, it may be better to select a dress with a more modest appeal. The dress need not have a low plunging necklince, or skin-tight in style. Minimal accesories are advised, to avoid removing the focus from the dress, and if you must wear tights, ensure they are nude-coloured!  As a general rule, you should avoid wearing black tights with a red dress so as not to make the dress appear tacky.

The gorgeous red dress above is availaible at Miss Selfridge here for £45.

Also check out this Clasp Clutch Bag similar to the one in the first image, by Jessica McClintock at TK Maxx here for £14.99!

These Nine West Pravo Buckle Detail Heeled Sandals available in Silver here for £40, would go perfectly with the dress.

I would not accesorize the above shoes with the above clutch bag since it has gold hardware, but...the Silver Fan Clutch Bag from Dorothy Perkins below would go perfectly...and at just £10 you will have managed to grab yourself a bargain!

Timeless Tweed

Tweed has been a perennial fashion favourite, and the upcoming seasons appear to be no different with a number of stores offering a selection of heritage inspired items. Tweed is classy, timeless and elegant. The manly nature of the fabric construction, can easily be feminised with a slimmer fitting cut. This will help to balance out the jacket and prevent an overtly feminine or masculine outfit.

For a heritage inspired look at high street prices, check out this tweed jacket from ASOS:

Alternatively, Jack Wills has two tweed blazers available:

Style Tips

DO

1. Occasionally co-ordinate your accessories i.e. bags, scarves etc., with a colour from your tweed jacket.

2. Pair your tweed with complimentary fabrics such as a silk top. This will help tone down the harshness of tweed fabric.

3. Remember that although tweed looks great with neutral colours, you can also add splashes of colour to your outfit, with perhaps a brightly coloured scarf, or handbag.

4. Wear neutral colours such as cream, beige, or khaki trousers, with traditionally coloured tweed jackets.

5. Wear denim with your tweed jacket for a more casual, relaxed style.

6. Pair the item with a somewhat outdoorsy looking pair of shoes, such as leather riding boots, brogues and moccasin's, particularly in shades of brown.

and just remember;

DON'T

Wear to much tweed at once!

Denim Delight

Experience supreme comfort with these slim-fitting jeggings from ASOS. I adore the medium-dark blue rinse and destroyed denim patch effect on the front panels.

Covetable Brown Leather Shoes

Heeled leather brogues? Fabulous! Although brogues tend to be quite masculine in style, the heel provides a feminine edge, and if you pair these with perhaps a cream/peachy coloured, whispy chiffon material, ruffled knee length dress (the type on offer constantly at Ted Baker), you won't be overdoing the masculine girl image!

I love the cute peep-toe detail and weaving on these pumps, they and will go well with an assortment of outfits, and will survive the autumn transition with a pair of skinny jeans and some warm knitwear.

Casual Trousers

I just love the pleated detail and looser fit at the the top of these trousers, as it progresses into a slimmer fit. These trousers would go well with a brown leather belt, either smooth or plaited.

The trousers are available in store in cream, navy and black. Don't forget! Zara now has an online store from which you can place any orders! =D

The Perfect Shirt

I've been in need of the reliable white shirt which won't lose shape the moment it enters a washing machine for some time now, and I think I have finally found it in the form of this shirt from Banana Republic!

A French cuff is a style of shirt cuff that is folded back on itself and then fastened with a cuff link. French cuffs are quintessentially stylish and are perfect for formal business wear. They also provide a more wriggle room at the wrist, than the barrel cuffs which are more ubiquitous now.

I also quite like the sateen barrel cuff version below. Barrel cuffs feature a band of fabric stitched onto the sleeve end and close with one or more buttons. I love sateen material for its sleek fit and finish.

My precious...

I cannot get enough of this Ted Baker purse I purchased shortly before the end of term at university. The glossy patent leather, large bobble clasp, subtle embossment, and sufficient space for cards, notes and coins, make for a purse that will ensure you stay glamorous regardless of the time of day or how you look!

If you go into the actual store, the purse is available in an array of colours to suit your mood or personality!

Heels Heels Heels...

No female wardrobe is complete without a pair (or more) of alluring black heels, so check out the beauties below:

These patent leather heels from Zara are absolutely divine! The shoe manages to add a very delicate and sophisticated female touch with it's elegant curves and glossy appearance, whilst simultaneously exuding an air of confidence and control. The reinforcement platform helps to balance out the heel for ease of walking. Beautiful.

I am simply swooning with desire for these preppy Miss Selfridge bow heels. The fabric, shape and design, all look rather vintage in style. The sturdy heels and reasonable height mean there need not be any trepidation at the thought of wearing them. Classy, womanly, and most importantly of all pretty, these shoes get a seal of approval from me!

Suave Satchels

Satchels were this Summer's must have bag-choice for both men and women alike, and this trend appears as though it will continue as we shift through to the colder seasons of the year - it is unlikely it will be going anytime soon.

So...for those who wish to have the vintage look without purchasing possibly unreliable second-hand items, I have searched the stores for satchels to fit every price range:
